Large e-commerce companies Amazon and Flipkart may have difficulty. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has requested the Supreme Court to hear the petitions challenging the investigation of these companies soon. The CCI has said that the investigation by Samsung and Vivo and some other companies has to suppress the challenge to suppress this investigation.

The market of e-commerce in the country is estimated to increase by 2028 to more than $ 160 billion. This is a major regulatory challenge for Amazon and Flipkart. Violations of laws related to foreign investment have also increased the scope of Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation against Amazon and Flipkart. These companies say that they follow the laws of the country. However, the ED has been investigating the allegations against these companies for the last few years. These companies are accused of controlling the inventory of Goods through selected sellers. Under the country’s law, foreign e-commerce companies cannot keep inventory of products sold through their website and can only act as a marketplace of sellers.

Recently, ED raided some sellers of Amazon and Flipkart. A government source, who has been aware of this, had said that the documents seized in the ED raids have found evidence that these companies have violated the law related to foreign investment. Along with the analysis of the data received from these sellers, their dealing will also be examined along with e-commerce companies in the last few years. Flipkart’s owner is Walmart, a US big retail company.
