This rule was to be implemented from December 1 but was postponed at the request of telecom companies. However, the real deadline for this was on 31 October. From the person sending messages from the new system to its delivery can be tracked. This will detect the involvement of telemarketers and other parties in sending messages. TRAI has reported that this rule will not delay in getting important messages like One-Time Password (OTP). OTP is used for banking and other services. In the new system, such promotional and spam messages will be blocked which have not been sent by registered firms. More than 27,000 firms have registered for this.
Bharti Airtel, one of the big telecom companies, stated earlier this week that more than 8 billion spam calls have been warned on its network. The company launched a solution related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deal with the problem of spam calls and messages about two and a half months ago. Since then, the company’s subscribers and spam calls and messages are warned.
Bharti Airtel said that with the help of this solution, about 1 million spammers are identified per day on its network. Six percent of the total calls on the company’s network and about two percent of all SMS have been identified as spam. The most spam calls are obtained in the capital Delhi. In the last two and a half months, the company has warned more than 25 crore subscribers of suspicious calls. The company has found that there has been a reduction of 12 percent in answering the spam calls of subscribers. After Delhi, most spam calls start from Mumbai and Karnataka. Gujarat has the highest number of spam messages. This is followed by Kolkata and Uttar Pradesh.
