Meta Brain Typing: How advanced is technology?
Meta for a long time Brain-computer interface (BCI) is working on. Recently he showed a demo of a non-invasive brain-typing system, using EEG (Electroncephalography) and AI models. According to research, it can convert to text by reading about 80% of accuracy by reading brain signals. One of MIT Technology Review Recent blog According to, technology depends on a support brain scanner called Magnetonsphalography (MeG) machine, which detects small magnetic signs created by brain activity. The scanner is so large and sensitive that it has to be placed in a special designed room to prevent the intervention of the Earth’s magnetic field.
Researchers at META also trained an AI model named Brain2QWERTY to analyze these brain signals. When it typed on the keyboard, AI learned to introduce data patterns with special correspondence. Over time, the system became so accurate that it could accurately guess what letter a person was thinking about 80% of the time.
Currently this technology is not practical
The current EEG devices are large and expensive. It may take time to make them small, accurate and economical. At the same time, every person’s brain pattern is different, which is difficult for everyone to create a universal system. Accessing data from the brain is a sensitive matter. Will a company store your thoughts? At the same time, a legal framework has not been created regarding brain data and this technology can create many moral debates.
Meta Brain Typing is an exciting technology, but it will not be available to the common people right now. It has many technical and ethical challenges, which may take years to solve. However, in future it can take brain-control technology to new heights.
